Haymaker AustinNew bars are popping up everywhere in Austin, but the Haymaker brings something a little special to Austin. To start with it has a huge range of beers, and switches out it’s staff regularly to keep even the greatest beer nerd on their toes.  With a vast selection of bottles, bombers and draft curated by a knowledgeable staff that ever time you head there you can try something new that you are going to love!

Personally I would recommend trying out the 512 Pecan Porter that they have on a nitrus tap, which is like drinking chocolate air. But don’t be afraid to try something new, there is a whole lot to choose from.

Awesome beer is backed by awesome food, with some unique menu items that combine some great bar foods with a unique gourmet twist. The poutine is a great starter, but the Haymaker is the highlight of the menu. A french toast base covered with shaved beef, fries, gruyere sauce and topped with a fried egg makes for a delicious meal. The beer and food are housed in a fantastic pub style setting with plenty of space.They use it well with a ton of entertainment from dart boards to pool tables to accompany your exploration of the beer selection.

The venue itself is my ‘ideal’ bar setup.  There are plenty of tables, but even more bar space (I’m a self-proclaimed barfly) not to mention a large outdoor area for when the temperature is right. It’s decor and lighting have been well crafted, and manages to get the exact right balance between dingy and blinding that all too many bars fail to achieve.  It’s true beauty however comes from it’s openness.  Large shutter windows by the bar open up, and even when sat inside, a soft evening breeze drifts across the inside area, somehow giving you an outdoors feel even on the inside.

All in all Haymaker is a great place to spend an evening with friends, try out some great beers, great food and the perfect setting to socialize!
